Ingredients For pennsylvania dutch green beans

  • 3 slice
    bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1 sm
    onion, sliced
  • 1 can
    water chestnuts, sliced
  • 1 1-lb can
    cut green beans
  • 2 tsp
    cornstarch
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1 Tbsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    vinegar

How To Make pennsylvania dutch green beans

    Brown onion and water chestnuts slightly in hot bacon fat.

    Drain beans, saving 1/2 cup liquid.

    Mix liquid with remaining ingredients and add to onion in skillet.

    Cook, stirring until mixture boils.

    Add beans and heat thoroughly.
