Grandma made this salad with fresh or frozen home grown peas. It was one of her basic foods; those things she kept her frig stocked with. Since she got surplus cheese back in the old days this was a nutritious and economical dish.

Ingredients For pea salad

  • 1/2 c
    miracle whip
  • 2 Tbsp
    milk
  • 1 pkg
    (10 ounces) frozen peas, thawed but not cooked
  • 4 oz
    cubed or shredded cheese, american, colby, or cheddar
  • 1/2 c
    chopped celery
  • 1/4 c
    chopped onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2-4 slice
    bacon, cooked and crumbled, optional

How To Make pea salad

  • 1
    Mix Miracle Whip and milk. Set aside. In serveing bowl combine all other ingredients. Stir to mix. Toss with thinned Miracle Whip. Serve as a side dish.
