This recipe has been in our family for years. My dad got the recipe from our Uncle J.D. 20 years ago and I've been making them for the past several years. Without a doubt the best dill pickles you will ever eat!

Ingredients For mississippi hot dills

  • INGREDIENTS, PER PINT JAR:
  • pickling cucumbers, freshly picked
  • 1 sprig
    dill, fresh
  • 1 clove
    garlic
  • 1
    jalepeno or serano pepper, sliced lengthwise
  • 1 slice
    onions, yellow, medium
  • Pickling Solution (note ratios):
  • 1 qt
    water, warm
  • 1 pt
    vinegar
  • 1/4 c
    canning salt

How To Make mississippi hot dills

    Sterilize pint canning jars
  • 2
    Bring pickling solution to a boil
  • 3
    Slice cucumbers lengthwise
  • 4
    Place dill, garlic, pepper, onion and sliced cucumber in jars
  • 5
    Pour solution to 1/4 to 1/2 inch; seal jar
  • 6
    Process jars in water bath canner for 10 minutes
  • 7
    Let sit for six weeks to cure before polishing off a jar full!
