Being of Irish descent Grandma loved root vegetables. I have to admit beets are good and this was one of her favorite ways to eat them.

Ingredients For grandma's beets

  • 1/2 c
    chopped onion
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 6 Tbsp
    honey
  • 1/4 c
    apple cider vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • 1/8 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 2 can
    (16 oz.) sliced beets, drained

How To Make grandma's beets

  • 1
    In large skillet, saute onion in butter over medium heat until softened. Add honey, vinegar, salt and cloves; cook and stir until mixture begins to boil. Add beets; simmer to reduce liquid and until thoroughly heated (about 10 minutes).
