I wait for the season each year. Nothing like them. When they're gone they're gone- till the next year. The anticipation is as good as the mushrooms!

Ingredients For nonna rosa's fried morels in cornmeal

  • 5-6
    morel mushrooms per serving
  • 2 c
    white or yellow corn meal
  • 1 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 1 pinch
    cracked ground pepper

How To Make nonna rosa's fried morels in cornmeal

    Heat cooking oil in skillet over medium heat until pinch of flour sizzles. Make sure morels are clean and split in half lengthwise. Reserve in cold water.

    Mix cornmeal, sugar, salt and pepper together in large bowl. Carefully bread each mushroom half (like breading chicken)

    Fry in small batches. About 6 mushrooms per serving. Can be held on tray in warm oven until all are fried. Enjoy!
