I have a hard time letting my tomatoes in the garden turn red just because these are so darned good!

Ingredients For fried green tomatoes

  • 3
    large, green tomatoes
  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 c
    milk
  • 3/4 c
    all-purpose flour
  • 1 c
    corn meal
  • salt
    to taste
  • pepper
    to taste
  • vegetable oil for frying

How To Make fried green tomatoes

  • 1
    Wash tomatoes in cold water, and get very dry. Slice tomatoes very thin. Set aside.

    Mix milk and egg together in a small bowl; then mix flour and cornmeal together in another bowl.

    Dip tomatoe slices in egg mixture and dredge in flour mixture. Shake off excess and fry in hot oil a minute or two on each side or until golden brown and crisp.

    Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with salt & pepper.
