    ranch style pinto beans
  • 1 can
    black beans, with liquid
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 1 c
    chicken broth
  • 1/3 c
    dark brown sugar plus 1 tablespoon
  • 3 Tbsp
    ketchup
  • 3 Tbsp
    bacon fat (from 2 to 3 pieces cooked bacon
  • 2 Tbsp
    red wine vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp
    minced canned green chiles (1 can)
  • 1/4 tsp
    cayenne pepper
  • chipole powder , to taste
  • kinder's hot-sweet bbq sauce, to taste

    Combine all the ingredients in medium saucepan and place over medium heat.

    When mixture begins to bubble reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 60 to 75 minutes; or until the beans are soft and mixture thickens.
