easy homemade cole slaw

Cole slaw is a side dish we had often growing up. Almost always homemade. It's a nice alternative to a salad. I've taken my grandma's recipe and added my own touches to it through the years. I've been able to turn cole slaw haters into lovers of this fine side dish. It's quick and easy, which is always a plus in my busy life. :)

Ingredients For easy homemade cole slaw

  • 1 lg
    head green cabbage (or use a small head green & small purple), shredded
  • 3 lg
    carrots. shredded
  • 1 sm
    onion, finely diced
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 c
    mayonnaise i use hellman's
  • 4 Tbsp
    sour cream, lite
  • 1 Tbsp
    mustard
  • 3 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 3 Tbsp
    white vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    paprika
  • fresh grated sea salt to taste
  • fresh grated pepper to taste

How To Make easy homemade cole slaw

    In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, diced onions, & minced garlic.

    In a small bowl whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, sugar, white vinegar, paprika, salt & pepper, & optional mustard. (I don't use due to food allergy) Add to cabbage mixture & mix well to combine.

    Add additional seasoning if you prefer. Serve as a side in place of a salad. :)
