Ingredients For country greens

  • 4 c
    water
  • 1 Tbsp
    mrs. dashes
  • 1 Tbsp
    celery salt
  • 1 Tbsp
    louisiana cajun seasoning
  • 1 Tbsp
    dry onions soup mix
  • t Tbsp
    onion power
  • 2 Tbsp
    diced garlic
  • 2 slice
    thick bacon diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    bacon fat rendered
  • 2 Tbsp
    apple vinegar
  • 1/2 c
    yellow onion diced
  • 1/2
    jalapeno pepper seeded and diced
  • 1 bag
    "cut 'n clean country green mix"(collards, turnip, mustard)
  • 2 Tbsp
    honey
  • salt and pepper to taste

How To Make country greens

  • 1
    Boil 4 cups water, add seasonings, vinegar, bacon, and honey. Boil gently 15 minutes
  • 2
    in a skillet melt bacon fat, saute onions, garlic, and jalapeno for 3-4 minutes
  • 3
    Add to broth along with greens; boil gently until greens are tender to suit.
