How To Make comfortable yams (or carrots, squash)
-
1Drain yams or carrots, pour into microwave safe bowl or large casserole dish. Of course, you can use fresh veggies - just roast and peel them as you normally would first!
-
2Combine vanilla, ginger ale and Southern Comfort.
-
3Combine all dry ingredients.
-
4Add dry ingredients to liquid, mix until dissolved.
-
5Cut butter into cubes and distribute evenly over yams or carrots.
-
6Pour mixture over yams or carrots, fold to coat.
-
7Bake at 350 degrees 30 minutes or microwave on high for 10 minutes until bubbling.
-
8Let stand a few minutes before serving. Can top with mini-marshmallows if desired.
-
9The sauce is more versatile than I thought. Recently I've discovered it's fantastic as an addition to barbeque sauce, a dipping sauce, some pie recipes (awesome with pumpkin), a glaze for some meats and it will also work with other veggies. Be adventurous!
