This is a simple but delicious recipe for using fresh tomatoes. You can vary the cheeses and herbs to your liking. I learned to make this (with no written recipe) from a friend who was a chef in Monterey, CA, back in the 1970's.

Ingredients For broiled cheesy tomatoes

2 lgfresh ripe tomatoes

1/2 cshredded jack cheese (or other cheese)

1/2 tspfresh thyme (a bit less if using dried herbs)

1/2 tspfresh oregano (a bit less if using dried herbs)

1 pinchgarlic powder

sea salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
How To Make broiled cheesy tomatoes

1Slice the tomato in half thick. Place in shallow pan cut side up. Sprinkle with each with and equal amount of cheese. Sprinkle on herbs and spices. Broil for approximately 10-12 minutes or until cheese is melted and brown. Serve immediately.
