This is a very tasty side dish and would go well with most any main dish. Prepare a few hours ahead to make sure it is well chilled when served.

Ingredients For broccoli salad

1 bunchfresh broccoli florets (2 if they are smaller sized)

1 smred onion, chopped

1 csharp cheddar cheese (or use shredded cheese of your choice) ***see note below

1/2 creal bacon bits (fry bacon and crumble yourself or use bac-o's

1 cmayonnaise (salad dressing isn't as good--use mayo only!)

1/4 csugar (or use 2 level tbsps splenda)

2 Tbspred wine vinegar

1/4 csliced black olives
How To Make broccoli salad

1Mix together the first four ingredients, cover and refrigerate. Mix together the next three ingredients in a bowl, cover and refrigerate until ready to serve. Combine all ingredients together in a serving bowl when about to serve, add sliced black olives, blending everything well.

2*** (Note:)I have made this when I had no cheese to add to it and it was still very good! So you could dispense with the shredded cheese if desired.
