Ingredients For beer-braised cabbage

  • 3 lb
    cabbage, cut into wedges
  • 1
    red onion, sliced 1/4"-thick
  • 1/2 tsp
    celery seeds
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 1 c
    stout beer
  • 1/4 c
    melted butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    packed light brown sugar
  • 6 slice
    cooked bacon, cut into 1"-pieces

How To Make beer-braised cabbage

    Arrange oven racks in center and lower thirds of oven. Heat oven to 350.

    In deep roasting pan, combine cabbage, onion, celery seeds, salt and pepper. In bowl, combine beer and brown sugar. Drizzle beer mix over cabbage.

    Cover pan tightly w/ foil. Bake on lower rack for 1-1/2 hrs or until cabbage is tender. Using a slotted spoon, transfer cabbage mix to serving platter. Sprinkle w/ bacon bits.
