Ingredients For aunt ethel's calico beans

  • 1 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 c
    finely diced onion
  • 1/2 lb
    bacon, cut in bite sized pieces
  • 1 can
    (15 ounces) pork and beans
  • 1 can
    (15 ounces) butter beans, drained
  • 1 can
    (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1/2 c
    catsup
  • 1 Tbsp
    apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp
    dry mustard
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt

How To Make aunt ethel's calico beans

  • 1
    Brown beef and onion in a large, deep skillet. Drain. Add bacon and cook until bacon is done but not crisp. Do not drain. Add remaining ingredients, mix well, and cook, uncovered, on low heat, at a simmer for about 30 minutes. Stir frequently. Serve hot.
