As long as I can remember, my Gram would make these carrots for every holiday...we got out of the tradition after she passed...well, my sister requested the tradition be brought back...so, who better than to bring it back , than sweet lil ole me...lol! Making them brought back so many memories...enjoy!

Ingredients For dandy candied carrots - grams

2 lbbaby carrots or sliced carrots

1 cpacked, brown sugar

1 tspvanilla or maple extract

1/2 cbutter
-
1/4 - 1/2 tspblack pepper

1 tspkosher salt

1 1/2 tspcorn starch - optional

1 1/2 tspwater- optional
How To Make dandy candied carrots - grams

1Place the carrots in a large sauce pan; covered with water and a sprinkling of kosher salt. Bring to a boil over med - high heat. Cook until fork tender. Drain

2Add the carrots back to the pan; add butter, salt, brown sugar, pepper, vanilla, simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes. Make a slurry out of corn starch and water if you desire a thicker glaze. I always thicken the sauce some. It adheres to the carrots much better. Doesn't effect the taste at all.

3Pour into a serving dish, and serve hot.
