My mom has been making this mac and cheese for as long as I can remember. It is easy and delicious.

Ingredients For my mom's baked macaroni and cheese

  • 2 c
    elbow macaroni
  • butter, softened
  • salt & pepper
  • bread crumbs
  • colby cheese
  • milk

How To Make my mom's baked macaroni and cheese

    Cook macaroni in salt water, then wash in cold water. Meanwhile, slice a block of colby cheese (I buy the larger block but it depends on how cheesy you want it).

    In an oval casserole dish, layer macaroni, a pad of butter, salt and pepper, bread crumbs, and cheese until all ingredients have been added. Pour milk over the top just until you can see it.

    Bake at 375 for 1 1/2 hours.

    The top will get crusty. If you prefer it stay soft, cover it with aluminum foil the last 30 minutes.
