This recipe came from an old friend who was Japanese and it is very good! My family and I all love it! It just has the right blend of authentic Japanese flavor made by Japanese chefs.

Ingredients For yoko's rice

  • 1/2 slice
    onion,sliced thin
  • 2 stalk
    celery'sliced
  • 3
    carrots,sliced
  • 1/2 c
    water, cold
  • 1 c
    rice, long grain
  • 2 c
    water
  • dash
    light olive oil
  • 2 Tbsp
    soy sauce, low sodium

How To Make yoko's rice

  • 1
    Cook first 3 ingredients in approximately 1/2 cup water in skillet,covered on lower heat.

    When skillet items are cooked, adding a little water along the way. cook rice in the 2 cups of water with a little salt op. for approximately 15 minutes.

    When rice is cooked, fold into skillet mixture. Enjoy!! Serve as a side dish with pork, chicken or whatever you prefer. It actually is a meal in itself.
