forbidden rice with a twist
Needed to try something different so as I was wandering aimlessly through the grocery store I found this black rice and said what the heck, let's see what I can come up with. The squeeze of fresh lemon on top just makes this pop. The photo actually shows a complete meal. I will post the shrimp recipe also.

Ingredients For forbidden rice with a twist

1 cforbidden black rice

1 1/2 cvegetable broth

1/2 csake

20saffron strands

1onions, vidalia, diced

1/2 lbbaby bella mushrooms sliced

3 clovegarlic minced

2 Tbspbutter unsalted

2 Tbspolive oil

salt and pepper

How To Make forbidden rice with a twist

1Sauté onion, garlic, and baby portobello mushrooms in butter and olive oil until soft

2Add rice and sauté 5 minutes to coat rice

3Add stock,salt, pepper, saffron and sake simmer until liquid is absorbed. About 40 minutes

4Squeeze fresh lemon on servings
