Sometimes it's the little things that count...like what type of relish to use in your macaroni salad. I say mix it up a little bit...try chow chow or tomato relish instead of falling back on the old bright green stand-by of sweet pickle relish. I like to use jalapeno relish and spicy /rotissori chicken pieces for a different kick.

How To Make basic macaroni salad

1Cook and drain your macaroni. The important thing here is to let the macaroni chill a little bit before mixing everything in. It doesn't have to be cold, but don't stir into it while it's hot.

2Start with a LARGE bowl because this recipe tends to 'grow' as you think of things you want to add to it.

3The next thing to remember is ...USE YOUR HANDS They are the best mixers you've got and will allow you to thoroughly mix the salad without tearing the noodles..and you can better tell when it is mixed well.
