My family has been making this for years. We don't have a holiday without it. It is so good even all the kids love it.

Super hearty, you could almost eat this broccoli and rice casserole as a meal. If you love cheese, you'll love this broccoli casserole. It's super cheesy! Filled with broccoli, we can see why it's a must on Kari's holiday menu.

Ingredients For holiday broccoli & rice casserole

  • 1 stick
    butter
  • 3 stick
    celery, chopped fine
  • 2 can
    cream of chicken soup (10.5 oz each)
  • 1 1/2 jar
    Cheez Whiz (15 oz)
  • 1 bag
    broccoli florets, chopped (16 oz)
  • 2 c
    Minute Rice, cooked
  • 3/4 can
    chicken broth or stock (14.5 oz can)
  • salt & pepper, to taste

How To Make holiday broccoli & rice casserole

  • Oven preheating to 350 degrees.

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Celery and melted butter in a Dutch oven.

    Melt butter in a Dutch oven. Then add your celery and cook until tender.
  • Soup, Cheez Whiz & broth added to the Dutch oven.

    Add your 2 cans of soup, Cheez Whiz & broth. Cook until all melted together. Then season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Stirring in broccoli.

    Now add your broccoli and mix. Broccoli can still be frozen, it will thaw at this point.
  • Stirring in rice.

    Add your rice and mix.
  • Mixture poured into a baking dish.

    Pour into a greased baking pan and cover.
  • Baking the covered casserole.

    Now put it in the oven and cook for one hour.
  • Foil removed and continuing to bake.

    In the last 10 to 15 minutes of cooking, remove the lid or foil and let the top brown a little.
