Look out summer! Here come the barbecue grills!!! And what goes better with grilled meat than some juicy, deep-flavored baked beans?

Ingredients For deluxe three-bean bake

½ lbsliced bacon, cut cross-wise into ¼-½
-
1 lbground beef*
-
*or omit the beef and double the bacon, or toss in a pork hock...whatever you'd like!

1 pkglipton onion soup and recipe mix
-
½-¾ cchopped onion
-
1 16-oz. canpork and beans, not drained
-
1 15½-oz. canbutter beans**, drained and rinsed
-
1 15½-oz. cancannelloni beans**, drained and rinsed
-
**or substitute the equivalent of any other bean(s) you like.

½ cketchup
-
½ cpacked brown sugar (may substutute equal amounts of honey and molasses for half the brown sugar if you wish)

1 Tbspprepared mustard (of your liking...i use uncle phil's sweet and sassy)

½ tsplawry's seasoned salt
-
pepper blend, to taste (i mix ground black, white, and cayenne peppers)
How To Make deluxe three-bean bake

1In Dutch oven cook bacon, hamburger and onion until meats are browned and onion is tender. Drain off any excess fat (although you will want some.)

2Stir in remaining ingredients.

3Cover and bake at 350°F for 1 hour, or transfer to 4-quart Crock-Pot® and cook on low heat setting for 6 hours (or longer to cook off more of the juice...your choice.) 1 hour before serving (after 5 hours of cooking), taste beans, and adjust seasoning if necessary. Continue cooking for last hour.
