This brand new macaroni and cheese recipe I created is inspired by a Chinese dish. But instead of bell peppers, I decided to use pepperoncini and banana peppers. The mac is filled with sliced flank steak and tossed in a one-of-a-kind ginger cheese sauce.

Ingredients For macaroni and cheese with pepper steak

1 lbuncooked elbow macaroni

1 Tbspolive oil

1 lbbeef flank steak, sliced thin

5pepperoncini peppers, sliced

2banana peppers, sliced

1 Tbspsteak seasoning

3 tspground ginger
-
2 TbspDijon mustard mixed with brown sugar

1 Tbspmargarine
-
1 cheavy whipping cream
-
1 canevaporated milk
-
1 chalf and half
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened
-
1 Tbspground ginger
-
3/4 cshredded Parmesan cheese

8 ozmonterey jack cheese, shredded

8 ozcolby jack cheese, shredded
How To Make macaroni and cheese with pepper steak

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2Coat the bottom and sides of a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish with cooking spray.

3Cook the elbow macaroni according to package directions; drain.

4Heat the olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced flank steak, sliced pepperoncini and banana peppers abd cook for 6 minutes until the steak is browned and the peppers are tender.

5Mix with steak seasoning, ground ginger and Dijon mustard/brown sugar. Remove from heat. Transfer to a greased casserole dish and spread evenly.

6Melt the margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Combine the heavy whipping cream, evaporated milk, half and half, cream cheese and ground ginger; whisk well and simmer for 5 minutes until blended and thickened.

7Reduce heat to low. Add cooked macaroni and shredded cheeses and stir well until combined. Remove from heat.

8Spoon the macaroni mixture onto the pepper steak mixture and mix well.

9Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
