There are dozens upon dozens of Turkish pilaf recipes. This version is really easy to prepare, and the list of ingredients adds a special touch to this dish. It includes both almonds and pistachio nuts, prunes and apricots and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. This pilaf is a great side dish to go with spicy meat dishes, but it's also good with vegetarian dishes as well.

Ingredients For turkish pilaf

1 1/2 cupsbrown rice, uncooked

4 cupswater

2 Tbspslivered almonds

2 Tbsppistachio nuts, shelled and coarsely chopped

1/4 cupdried prunes, chopped

1/4 cupdried apricots, chopped

1 tspground cinnamon
-
1/4 tspground nutmeg (optional)
How To Make turkish pilaf

1Bring water to a brisk boil in a medium saucepan. Add brown rice, stir well, and cover pan. Reduce heat to low and let the rice simmer for 45 minutes over low heat.

2Stir in all remaining ingredients, and serve immediately while still warm.
