Ingredients For rice picadillo-style

  • 3/4 lb
    lean ground beef
  • 1 sm
    onion, diced
  • 1/2 c
    green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can
    14.5-oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 c
    water
  • 2 Tbsp
    raisins
  • 2 Tbsp
    pimento-stuffed olives, chopped
  • 1 tsp
    chili powder
  • 1 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • dash of ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 c
    long-grain rice, uncooked

How To Make rice picadillo-style

  • 1
    Combine first 3 ingredients in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring until ground beef crumbles and is no longer pink. Drain well and return beef mixture to skillet.

    Add diced tomatoes, water, raisins, olives, chili powder, cumin, and cinnamon and bring to a boil. Stir in rice and cover.

    Reduce heat and simmer 20 minutes or until rice is tender.
