I wanted to serve Rice-a-roni with an asian chicken dish I created but I realized that we didn't have any any in the cupboard so, I decided to see if I could create my own version of this simple comfort food.

Ingredients For homemade rice-a-roni

  • 1 c
    minute rice
  • 1/3 c
    orzo pasta
  • 3 c
    chicken stock
  • 1/4 tsp
    onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp
    poultry seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    black pepper
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter

How To Make homemade rice-a-roni

    Melt your butter in a large sautee pan over medium heat until pasta and rice are a light toasted brown. about 3-5 min
  • 2
    Slowly add chicken stock to the pan.

    add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and poultry seasoning wisk together and bring to a boil.

    place cover or lid on top of the pan and turn the heat down to medium low. cook until the stock has been absorbed roughly 20 min.
