Ingredients For fairy tale rice

  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 5 oz
    thin egg noodles or vermicelli
  • 2 c
    uncooked instant rice
  • 2 pkg
    1-oz each dry onion soup mix
  • 4 c
    broth - vegetable or chicken
  • 1 can
    5-ounce can water chestnuts, drained and sliced or chopped
  • 1/2 tsp
    celery salt
  • 1 tsp
    soy sauce

How To Make fairy tale rice

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. (175 deg. C.) Grease a 2-quart oven baking dish.

    Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat. Break noodles into pieces and brown them in the butter.

    In a large bowl, combine browned pasta, rice, onion soup, broth, water chestnuts, celery salt, and soy sauce. Mix well and transfer to prepared oven baking dish.

    Bake for 45 minutes until liquid has been absorbed and casserole is brown and crispy on top. Serve!
