Ingredients For basic yellow rice

3 Tbspunsalted butter

1 cuplong-grain white rice (or basmati rice)

2 clovegarlic, minced (about 1 teaspoon)

1/4 cuponion, finely chopped

1 tspground turmeric

2 cupslow-sodium chicken broth

1/2 tspsalt
-
1/2 tspblack pepper
-
2 Tbspfresh cilantro leaves, chopped

1 cupfrozen peas (optional)
How To Make basic yellow rice

1Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add rice, and gently stir until rice beings to brown lightly.

2Add garlic, onion, and turmeric, and stir until well combined.

3Slowly stir in the chicken broth and peas (if using). Increase heat to medium-high, and season with salt and pepper, and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it reaches a brisk boil, reduce heat to very low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for 20 to 25 minutes or until rice absorbs all the liquid.

4Remove pan from heat, stir in the cilantro. Fluff rice with a fork, and serve immediately while still hot.
