We like potatoes fixed many different ways, so when I saw this recipe , I thought a great way to have sweet potatoes and regular togeather. It's like a savory scalloped potatoe dish. This recipe is from All You Magazine

Ingredients For two potatoe gratin

  • 1 Tbsp
    fresh chopped fine sage ( if using dried sage use only 1/4 teasp. or to your taste )
  • 1 Tbsp
    finely chopped fresh thyme ( if using dried thyme, use only 1/4 tesp. crushed )
  • 2 lb
    russet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/8 in. thick
  • 2 lb
    sweet potatoes, peeled and sliced 1/8 in. thick
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    black pepper
  • 1 1/2 c
    half and half
  • 1/2 c
    low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 c
    grated gruyere cheese

How To Make two potatoe gratin

    Pre Heat Oven to 425 - Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil , SET Aside - Spray a 3 quart , shallow baking dish with cooking spray. - In a small Bowl combine the sage and thyme set aside

    In the prepared baking dish , layer 1/3 of the potatoes and sweet potatoesalternating the slices so you will have same amount of both in layer. sprinkle 1/3 of the sage and thyme mixture over the layer and 1/3 of the salt and pepper. repeat each layering step to end up with 3 layers.

    In a bowl or large measuring cup, combine the half and half with the chicken broth, stirring to mix togeather and then pour over the potatoes in the baking dish. place the dish on the foil lined baking sheet and cover the dish with foil.

    Bake for 50 minutes, uncover and sprinkle the cheese over the top of potatoes and bake uncovered for about 20 to 25 minutes, untill the cheese is golden and bubbly. Let rest for 10 minutes after removing from oven before serving .
