We are big meat and potatoe fans. Add gravy to it and we are in heaven. This is a very filling and warm recipe.

Ingredients For swiss steak with gravy

  • 2 lb
    round steak
  • 1/2 c
    sliced onion
  • 1/2 c
    sliced green pepper
  • 1 can
    14 oz. diced tomatoes garlic/onion flavor
  • 1 tsp
    season salt
  • 1 pkg
    brown gravy (add water as directed)
  • 3 Tbsp
    flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    vegetable or olive oil
  • 1 dash
    salt and pepper
  • 1 tsp
    cornstarch and 2 tsp water mixed in small bowl

How To Make swiss steak with gravy

    Tenderize round steak. Sprinkle seasoned salt on one side.

    Sprinkle flour on both sides of round steak. Brown in oil on both sides. Remove beef to plate. Add onions and green peppers to pan and saute for 1 minute. Then add gravy, water, can of tomatoes, dash of salt and pepper. Bring to a boil.

    Return meat to pan and cover. Cook on simmer or low boil for 2 hours until meat is tender. Last 10 min. add mixtures of 1 tsp of cornstarch and 2 tsp of water to thicken and make gravy.

    Serve with mashed potatoes, rice or noodles.
