This is my signature dish at our family's Thanksgiving dinner every year. It's very sweet and can be served as a side dish or as a dessert. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family has.

Ingredients For sweet potato casserole

  • 1 (40 oz ) can
    sweet potatoes (drained)
  • 1 (29 oz) can
    sweet potatoes (drained)
  • 1 pinch
    salt
  • 2
    eggs
  • 1 stick
    butter or margarine
  • 1/3 c
    milk (or less--you don't want it too soupy as it won't cook down)
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • BROWN SUGAR TOPPING
  • 1 c
    light brown sugar
  • 1/3 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1/3 stick
    margarine or butter (melted)
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How To Make sweet potato casserole

    Brown Sugar Topping--in a small bowl, mix all ingredients together and set aside.

    In large bowl mash sweet potatoes then add salt, eggs, margarine, milk and sugar together
  • 3
    Spoon into large casserole dish and top with Brown Sugar Topping

    Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.
