stovetop fries

I've tried many recipes to oven bake french fries. Most of have been good.......but to me there's just something special about fries that are actually fried. This is a simple and basic way to fry them on the stove top.

How To Make stovetop fries
-
1Cut the potato into 1/2-inch slices. (You can peel it or not. I don't usually peel mine). Cut each slice lengthwise into 1/2-inch strips.
-
2Heat the oil in a large frying pan on medium-high heat. After 1 minute, carefully put 1 potato strip in the pan. If it immediately begins to sizzle, add the rest of the potatoes. If it doesn't sizzle, wait another 30 seconds and try a second strip. If the oil isn't hot enough, the potatoes will stick to the bottom of the pan.
-
3Fry for 1 minute and turn them over with a spatula. Continue turning them every minute or so until they have become golden brown. If they start to burn, turn the heat down to medium.
-
4Drain the fries on paper towels, sprinkle on some salt and serve.
