simply scalloped potatoes
(2 ratings)
My mother-in-law had a knack for making simple recipes that tasted like she tolled over the oven and stove! But her love of cooking and her love for her family showed every time we sat down for a meal of hers. This dish is very simple and so good, that I had to share it.
Blue Ribbon Recipe
Rich and creamy scalloped potatoes to elevate your holiday dinner. Slices of potatoes are cooked in heavy cream and butter. Sliced onions not only add some texture but they infuse flavor into the side dish. The key is to cut the onions and potatoes to the same width so they bake evenly. These scalloped potatoes are very decadent.

1Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Get out a 9x13 rectangle pan.
-
2Thinly slice the potatoes and line the bottom of the pan.
-
3Thinly slice the onions and lay on the potatoes in the pan.
-
4Cut the butter into 1/8-inch slices and lay on top of the onions.
-
5Pour the heavy cream over the ingredients in the pan.
-
6Season with salt and pepper.
-
7Cover the pan with aluminum foil. Place the pan in the oven and set the timer for 60 minutes.
-
8After 60 minutes, remove the foil. Reset the timer for 30 minutes and allow the dish to get browned. Remove the pan from the oven after the timer goes off the second time. Allow to sit for 30 minutes before serving.
