Ingredients For potatoes au gratin

  • 4 c
    russet potatoes
  • 1-1/2 c
    whole milk
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 c
    grated medium cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp
    black pepper
  • 1/2 Tbsp
    salt

How To Make potatoes au gratin

  • 1
    Thinly slice potatoes and set aside. In medium saucepan melt butter, add flour and whisk together, add milk and whisk together.

    Add salt and pepper. Cook until boiling stirring constantly until smooth. Turn off heat and add 1 cup of cheese.

    Lightly grease a 8x8 casserole dish. Layer 1/2 potatoes in dish, top with 1/2 sauce. Add another layer of potatoes then sauce..top with 1/2 cup of cheese…sprinkle with paprika. Bake uncovered at 350* for 45 -60 minutes until potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly..
