I developed this recipe for camping get togethers. I've been doing this for at least 30 years and it's always a big hit at pot luck's or large gatherings. I even brought it to a wake gathering once or twice.

Ingredients For onion potatoes

  • 5 lb
potatoes, washed and diced and placed in a foil disposable pan
  • 1-2 stick
    butter, not margerine!
  • 1-2 packet
    onion soup mix, dry

How To Make onion potatoes

  • 1
Wash and dice potatoes and place in a foil disposable pan.
  • 2
Add melted butter over top of potatoes and mix together.
  • 3
Sprinkle packet or packets of onion soup mix over top and mix together. Bake in an oven on 350* for 1 hour mixing every 20 minutes so potatoes will be crunchy. You can also cook in a gas grill on medium heat but place pan on an inverted cake pan to get it off the grill and cover the grill. Never cover the pan and watch so it doesn't burn. Don't forget to stir!
