I never knew making my own fries would be so easy! My family prefers these over store bought. The cooking time can vary, depending on the size of the batch. I check them frequently.

Ingredients For hand cut seasoned fries

  • 7 md
    russet potatoes
  • vegetable oil
  • Lawry's seasoned salt
  • garlic powder

How To Make hand cut seasoned fries

  • 1
    Wash the potatoes.
  • 2
Cut the bottom of each potato off on the long axis, so it will stand flat on a cutting board.
  • 3
Slice in half along the long axis then slice into 1/4-inch slices. It may be necessary to cut the slices in half if too large.
  • 4
Rinse the potatoes in cold water and drain. Rinse a second time and drain.
  • 5
Turn the potatoes out onto paper towels and dry them.
  • 6
Using a large deep pot, place the potatoes in room temperature oil. (This is the secret to not having to double fry them.)
  • 7
Turn the burner to medium high heat. Allow the potatoes to cook. Place a splatter screen over the top of the pot.
  • 8
When done, remove the fries and place into a bowl with paper towels. Season and toss. I use Lawry's and garlic powder. You can use any spices or toppings you like. Garlic, grated Parmesan, cayenne... whatever you fancy!
