This is a delicious simple candied sweet potato recipe from my friend in High School Kathy Byars's Grandmother. Enjoy.

Ingredients For grandma gertrude byars candied sweet potatoes

  • 4 md
    sweet potatoes
  • 1 1/2 c
    sugar
  • 1 tsp
    orange extract
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    water
  • 1/4 c
    butter
  • 4 Tbsp
    brown sugar

How To Make grandma gertrude byars candied sweet potatoes

    Peel and boil Sweet Potatoes. Cook until almost done.

    In a different boiler, combine all other ingredients and bring to a boil. Drain sweet potatoes and then cut into chunks or strips. Add the mixture and continue cooking until potatoes are done and mixture begins thickening.

    Optional Top with a few mini marshmallows and bake until golden
