candied yams ( crock pot)
(4 ratings)
I must admit, I have never tried these. I am not a sweet potato, or yams fan; but I shared this recipe with a good friend, and she swears by them. She won't use any other recipe..this recipe came from my " The Best Slow Cooker Cookbook Ever".. I know a crock pot comes in handy when preparing big holiday dinners, and is why I am sharing this. My friend says you can't go wrong with these, she says they are absolutely delicious.

How To Make candied yams ( crock pot)
-
1Place the yams in crock pot. In a medium bowl, mix together the brown sugar, melted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, and orange juice. Spoon over yams.
-
2Cover and cook on the low heat setting 5 1/2 to 6 hours, stirring once, if possible, until the yams are tender.
-
3Stir in brandy and orange zest. Sprinkle the marshmallows and pecans over the top. Cover and cook 5 minutes longer, or until the marshmallows are melted. Serve immediately..
-
4Notes from the book: These yams are a yummy addition to holiday meals. Use yams with a vivid sweet orange flesh, because they cook up to a much moister texture than pale sweet potatoes, which can end up dry and crumbly.
