I wanted to try a new potato recipe & this recipe was a perfect side dish to the main course which was ham. I love scalloped potatoes & I didn't want to make them from a box so I got creative & made them from scratch. I made this recipe for myself & my husband. This recipe can be doubled to feed 4-6 people.

Ingredients For bacon & cheese scalloped potatoes

4 tspbutter, cold

1/4 call purpose flour

1 1/2 cmilk, 2%

1 1/2 cheavy cream
-
1 tspsalt
-
1 Tbspblack pepper
-
1/4 tspground nutmeg
-
1 Tbspparsley flakes
-
1 tsphot sauce
-
1 mdyellow onion, sliced
-
4 mdrusset potatoes, thinly sliced

2 ccheddar cheese
-
6 slicebacon, cooked & crumbled

1/2 tsppaprika, sweet mild
How To Make bacon & cheese scalloped potatoes

1Slice onions into rings

2Rinse potatoes & drain then thinly slice.

3In a small pot, heat butter on medium heat until melted. Add flour. Whisk until smooth. Gradually add milk, cream, salt, 1/2 tsp. black pepper, ground nutmeg, 1/2 tsp. parsley flakes, 1c. cheddar cheese & hot sauce. Bring to a boil & stir constantly for 2 minutes or until thick. Place lid on pot to keep warm.

4In a 2 qt. glass baking dish, layer potatoes & onion rings alternately starting & ending with potatoes. Pour sauce over potatoes & onions. Add remaining spices & cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 for 65 minutes. Crumble bacon on top & enjoy.
