Ingredients For mother’s baked cheese and macaroni

  • 8 oz. macaroni
  • butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 1 to 2 cups cheddar cheese, cut in small pieces
  • 2 eggs, beaten in 2/3 cup milk
  • breadcrumbs and/or grated cheese

How To Make mother’s baked cheese and macaroni

    In boiling salted water, cook macaroni to whatever degree of tenderness you prefer; cooking time varies from 10 to 20 minutes. You will have 2 cups. Grease baking dish and line with a layer of hot macaroni. Dot with butter, dust with salt and pepper and sprinkle with small pieces of cheese. Fill dish with layers prepared in this fashion; the top layer should be buttered bread crumbs with grated cheese. Beat eggs in milk; pour into macaroni mixture, adding more milk if needed to cover; bake at 350 until golden brown, about 30 minutes. In the finished dish, the pasta and cheese should blend into delicious custard. Serves 4 to 6 My Old Recipes
