I can already hear the boo's about this not being a real recipe because it starts with a box of Kraft macaroni and cheese. I will just say now that you can't convince myself, my son or my mom who just so happens to be the worlds greatest cook that this isn't a wonderful side dish. Heck, my son will polish off the whole box in one sitting. Mom used to make this with salmon patties (yuck) and it's the only reason I could get them down. I have made it the 20 years of my sons life and it's the only way he wants his Kraft Mac and cheese. Give it a try. It really is a wonderful side dish.

    tomato sauce (small can)
  • 1/2 stick
    margarine
  • 1-3 tsp
    chili powder (will vary)

How To Make mexi mac-annette's

  • 1
Bowl pasta according to box directions. Drain and put back into pot with margarine.
  • 2
Empty contents of cheese packet, chili powder and tomato sauce into pasta. Stir well to incorporate all the ingredients. ***You may need to adjust the chili powder amount according to your taste.*** If you are unsure of how much you will need to use, don't put it in until you have everything mixed well, and then put it in a teaspoon at a time and taste it until you've reached your desired amount. Enjoy!

****Note that you are leaving out the milk that is usually called for when making Kraft Mac and cheese and replacing it with tomato sauce.****
