I created a new macaroni and cheese recipe with 3 kinds of parmesan cheese: grated, shredded, and shaved. This is the ninth recipe in my series of new garlic Parmesan recipes.

Ingredients For macaroni and garlic parmesan

3 cgrated Parmesan cheese, divided

1 lbdry elbow macaroni

3 Tbspgarlic butter, divided

1/4 call purpose flour
-
1 cwhole milk
-
1 chalf and half
-
1 bottlegarlic Parmesan sauce

1 cshredded Parmesan cheese
-
1 cshaved Parmesan cheese
-
8 ozcream cheese, softened
-
3banana peppers, sliced
-
10buttery round crackers, crushed
How To Make macaroni and garlic parmesan

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2Coat a 13-x 9-inch baking dish with cooking spray. Add 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese.

3Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain.

4Melt 2 tablespoons garlic butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Gradually whisk in flour. Cook, whisking constantly, 1 minute.

5Gradually whisk in milk, half & half and garlic Parmesan sauce until smooth. Cook, whisking constantly, 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly thickened.

6Mix 1 cup grated, shredded and shaved Parmesan cheese and cream cheese until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in sliced banana pepper and cooked macaroni.

7Pour macaroni mixture into the prepared baking dish.

8In a small bowl, combine crushed crackers, remaining grated Parmesan cheese and melted garlic butter together; sprinkle over macaroni mixture.

9Bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
