Ingredients For pasta casserole

    olive oil
  • 1/2 c
    chopped onions
  • 2
    garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 can
    (14 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 2 tsp
    basil, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    oregano, dried
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    pepper
  • 16 oz
    spiral pasta
  • 1-1/2 c
    mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1-1/2 lb
    ground beef
  • 1 jar
    (24 ounces) pasta sauce

    In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef in oil and cook onion and garlic until tender, but not brown. Add to sauce..

    Sauce: Stir in tomatoes with liquid, pasta sauce , sugar, basil, oregano, salt and pepper; heat to boiling, then reduce heat and simmer, stirring to break up tomatoes, 15 to 20 minutes.,

    Prepare pasta; drain. Toss cooked pasta with sauce and place in 3 quart casserole.

    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Top with mozzarella cheese and bake for 5 more minutes.
