Ingredients For creamy tomato orzo

  • 4 c
    water
  • 2 tsp
    chicken better than bouillon (or 2 bouillon cube)
  • 1 c
    dry orzo
  • 2 Tbsp
    butter
  • 1 Tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1/4 c
    half and half
  • 2 tsp
    dried basil
  • 2 tsp
    dried parsley
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/4 c
    grated parmesan cheese (not the green can stuff)

How To Make creamy tomato orzo

  • 1
    Bring water and bouillon to a boil in a large saucepan. Stir in orzo and return to a boil. Reduce heat slightly and cook 15 minutes, or until orzo is done. Drain excess liquid, if needed. Return to pan

    Stir in butter, tomato paste, cream, basil and parsley. Bring back to temperature. Season with salt and pepper.

    Just before serving, stir in parmesan cheese.
