Ingredients For baked macaroni with gouda and banana peppers

  • 8 oz
    gouda cheese, shredded and divided
  • 1 c
    Panko bread crumbs, divided
  • 8 oz
    elbow macaroni
  • 1 Tbsp
    olive oil
  • 2
    banana peppers, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp
    sea salt mixed with black pepper
  • 3/4 Tbsp
    shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine
  • 3 Tbsp
    all purpose flour
  • 2 c
    milk
  • 16 oz
    cream cheese
  • 1 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1 tsp
    ground marjoram
  • 1 tsp
    ground thyme

How To Make baked macaroni with gouda and banana peppers

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2
    Coat a 2 quart baking dish with cooking spray. Add 1 cup shredded gouda cheese and 1/2 cup bread crumbs; mix well.

    Meanwhile, bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni and cook for 8 to 10 minutes; drain.

    Heat olive oil in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add sliced banana peppers and saute for 4 minutes or until tender.

    Season with sea salt/black pepper and sprinkle with shredded Parmesan cheese. Remove from heat and set aside.

    In a medium saucepan, add margarine, flour and milk over medium heat. Shisk together for 2 minutes.

    Stir in cream cheese, ground cumin, marjoram and thyme; cook, stirring frequently, until mixture boils and thickens.

    Add cooked macaroni, sauteed banana pepper mixture and remaining shredded gouda cheese; mix well until combined.

    Pour into a prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Sprinkle with remaining bread crumbs.

    Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.
