Ingredients For baked macaroni and cheese

  • 2 lb
    macaroni, dry
  • 1/2 c
    butter
  • 1/2 c
    flour
  • 3 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1 tsp
    pepper
  • 3-4 lb
    extra sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 c
    italian bread crumbs

How To Make baked macaroni and cheese

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cut cheddar cheese into small chunks.

    Cook macaroni in salted boiling water according to package directions. Drain. Spray cookin pan with cooking spray and pour macaroni back in.

    Pour in saucepan the cold milk and flour. Wisk the cold milk and flour over low heat till mixed. Then add butter, cheese, salt and pepper.

    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce bubbles and thickens.

    Reserve 1 cup chopped cheese and bread crumbs for the top of the casserole.

    Pour sauce over macaroni and mix thoroughly.

    Sprinkle with remaining cheese and the bread crumbs on top of mixture.

    Bake for 30 minutes, or until bubbly and browned.

    Serve immediately.
