alfredo mac and peas

This mac and peas recipe is so simple, easy and quick to cook. It's not too creamy but still has sweet and savory flavor. If you love creamy sauce, you can add more parmesan cheese.

Ingredients For alfredo mac and peas

  • 1/2 c
    macaroni, elbow
  • 1/2 c
    frozen sweet peas
  • 1/2 c
    diced smoked ham
  • 1/2 c
    heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 c
    freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove
    garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp
    unsalted butter
  • 1 pinch
    salt or more to taste and ½ tsp for cooking pasta
  • 1 pinch
    ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch
    ground thyme

How To Make alfredo mac and peas

  • 1
    In a medium sauce pan, bring water to boil. Add salt and then add pasta. Cook pasta for about 5 minutes, drain and set aside.

    Melt and brown the butter in a medium non stick skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook for 15 seconds.

    Add heavy whipping cream, parmesan cheese, ground thyme, salt and pepper. Stir well until the sauce become thick and turn the heat down to medium low. Add frozen peas, diced smoked hams and pasta into skillet, turn the heat up to medium. Stir gently until the sauce coat the pasta, peas and hams for about 2 minutes and turn the heat off. Serve immediately.
