This recipe was given to me by a dear friend who is no longer with us. I'm pretty sure this is an authentic Polish recipe. You can make a meal of it or serve as a side.

Ingredients For ron's kraut with pork

  • 1 lg. can
    saurkraut, drained
  • 1
    carrot, diced
  • 1
    potato, diced
  • 1
    onion, diced
  • 1 tsp
    sugar
  • 1
    pork shank (or 6 meaty country ribs)
  • 6
    polish sausage or rope sausage

How To Make ron's kraut with pork

  • 1
    Put sauerkraut, carrot, potato, sugar and onion in Nesco roaster. Add some water and cook until tender.

    Meanwhile, boil (simmer) meat for 1/2 hour.
  • 3
    Add meat to sauerkraut and cook at 300 degrees until meat is very tender.

    Note: Prep time includes waiting for vegetables and meat to cook prior to assembly.
