Here in the South, grits are offered at breakfast time. While they are great at breakfast or brunch, these grits also make a nice addition to an evening meal.

1/2 tspblack pepper

cayenne pepper, optional

1/2 cquick grits

1/2 cgrated sharp cheddar cheese

1/2 cgrated Monterey jack cheese
How To Make rich and creamy cheese grits

1Simmer the milk in a saucepan over medium-high heat until hot, being careful not to boil.

2Add salt, pepper and cayenne (if using). Whisk in the grits and reduce heat to medium. Continue whisking until smooth; cook approximately 8-10 minutes.

3Turn off the heat and add the cheese. Adjust seasoning as needed.
