I grew up eating beans. I think it's a Southern thing. This is a wonderful recipe that we eat at home, take to a pot luck or a barbeque at the lake. They are so good and filling. The recipe and picture is from Southern Living.

Ingredients For low country baked beans

  • 1/2 lb
    bacon, chopped
  • 1 md
    onion, chopped
  • 1 can
    baked beans (53 oz.)
  • 1/2 c
    grey poupon mustard
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • 1/3 tsp
    hot sauce

How To Make low country baked beans

  • 1
    Fry chopped bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat 5 to 7 minutes or until browned. Add onion; saute until tender. Stir in beans and remaining ingredients; pour into a 13- x 9-inch baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
