These are great for a fish fry or I even love to serve them with bbq chicken or ribs.

Ingredients For jalapeno hush puppies

  • 1 c
    cornmeal
  • 1/2 c
    self rising flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1
    egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1/2 c
    diced onion
  • 1 Tbsp
    diced jalapeno pepper
  • oil for deep fat frying

How To Make jalapeno hush puppies

  • 1
    Heat oil to 375. Meanwhile, in a bowl combine the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Combine the egg, milk, onion and jalapeno. Stir into dry ingredients just until moistened. Drop batter by tablespoonfuls into oil. Fry for 2 mins or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.
